MJJ December Promotions was a big success!

Congratulations to all the MJJ students who where promoted last Saturday, Dec. 19th, 2009. We are very proud of everyone's progress and look forward to some awesome year of training and competition in 2010! The Self-Defense Presentation was awesome and a great Holiday Party that followed! Winter Belt Promotions Right Around the corner

It's that time again for MJJ's Bi-Annual Belt Promotions on December 19th! It's been a strong year of training for MJJ and Professor Heredia is very proud to promote his hard working students! Kids promotions will be at 10am and Adults at 11:30am followed by a Self-Defense Presentation and an after party at Jacque's Bistro in Paia Town!

Professor Luis Heredia Heading to Oregon!

During August 22nd and 23rd, Professor Luis Heredia is conducting a 2 day camp to celebrate the 1st anniversary of the Anibal Lobo Academy in Oregon. He will be back on monday, August 24th for the preparations of the Annual Maui Jiu Jitsu Open Tournament.

6th Annual Maui Jiu Jitsu Open

It is our great pleasure to invite you and your organization to attend and compete in the 6th annual Maui Jiu-Jitsu open Tournament. The event will take place on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the War Memorial Gymnasium in Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii. We also welcome back all who attended last year's event. We expect this year's tournament to be even larger, with bigger and better competition!
Competition will consist of matches in all belt levels and weight divisions with medals, trophies, and prizes to the winners as well as the always competitive team competition, with trophies and prizes to the top three teams.
Please make every attempt to register as early as possible to allow us to begin the always time consuming process of setting up the brackets and matching competitors. This allows us to start the competition on time and keep the tournament flowing smoothly.

Professor Limao heads to Tampa & Brazil!

MJJ would like to wish Professor Luis Heredia the best on his trip to Tampa, FL & Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He will be teaching some Seminars for the Pedro Sauer Association first in Tampa and then in Rio de Janeiro topping his trip off with a fight at the 2009 Senior & Masters International Championships hosted by the IBJJF! Xande Ribeiro Seminar!

The Maui Jiu Jitsu Academy was honored with a visit from world champion Xande Ribeiro last Saturday, May 9th. Xande is one of the very best brazilian jiu jitsu players in the world and gave Luis and his students a fantastic seminar. Ribeiro is yet another in a long line of jiu jitsu greats to come to Maui and visit with Luis and his academy. We thank Xande and his wonderful fiance for taking the time to come see us and hope to have them both back soon!

MJJ First Annual Keiki Showdown

MJJ will be hosting it's First Annual Keiki Showdown on Sunday, April 19th, 2009. This competition is to be held in-house at Maui Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Haiku, Maui. The registration fee will be one low price of $20 to participate in one or both Gi & No-Gi divisions. Tournament is ope for ages 5-16. There will be medals and trophies for the winners and event T-shirts will be available for sale to raise money to host more Keiki Jiu-Jitsu programs.
