Maui Jiu-Jitsu is located in Haiku on the beautiful Hawaiian island of Maui.

The uniqueness of Maui Jiu Jitsu is derived from the students, teachers, and location of the academy. Maui is a special island where many different people mix together. At Maui Jiu Jitsu you can find people who range from surfers to cowboys to executives all coming together to pursue their one common goal of learning Jiu-Jitsu.

If the people make Maui Jiu Jitsu unique, then it's the location that makes it special. Hawaii is the most isolated island chain in the entire world. Maui is the second largest island in the Hawaiian chain, and has everything Oahu has to offer, but with less of a crowd. Perfect surf breaks, breathtaking sunsets, world-class hiking, year round fishing, and the tropical climate make Maui a destination for locals and tourists alike.

Our Academy is run by five time Pan Am Champion Professor Luis Heredia, a 6th Degree Black Belt under world famous Rickson Gracie. Luis has dedicated a lifetime to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and is a very skilled teacher and competitor who has received many awards for his teaching dedication and tournament accomplishments.

As part of the Pedro Sauer Jiu Jitsu Association Maui Jiu Jitsu specializes in Gracie Jiu Jitsu, Street Self-Defense, and No-Gi Training (ground techniques without a Kimono). We offer classes for ages 7-10, 10-14, Juniors 15 and up as well as Adult Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Gi & No-Gi instructional training.

Come train in with us in paradise!

Believing in Jiu-Jitsu

The strength of a man must be measured by how much heart he has, not muscle or ego. People should be viewed by their respect towards others, the love in their heart and their passion towards life.

Before understanding JJ, I was confused and uncertain about the direction of my life. I worried about not having as much as the next man, and being smaller than most, I had fear of a bigger guy.

Luckily, many years ago God put me in the path of Rickson Gracie.

Through Jiu-Jitsu, Rickson has always taught me to believe in myself. He has shown me that with a positive attitude, good eating habits and faith in the Jiu-Jitsu, Jiu-Jitsu would be a vehicle for success in my life.

While there have been many different paths available, I have always given priority to the Jiu-Jitsu path. It has been the best decision of my life. More than ever, today I have the proof of the results of believing in something and someone who is the leading authority in the martial arts today.

Rickson's teachings have given me the capacity to make honesty, creativity, friendship, courage, balance, faith, health, and respect the foundation of my character. For this I owe Rickson all the respect, devotion and loyalty as a soldier.

There were many times in my life when I thought about quitting. As I matured, I realized that to achieve what you want it is not going to be easy. Today quitting doesn't even come to mind.

No matter which paths are available to you, to be something you have to choose something. It is the only way to succeed. Thankfully, I chose Jiu-Jitsu.

Today, jiu-Jitsu is part of my blood. I teach Jiu-Jitsu with passion. It is my way of giving back to God by helping God make people uncover the positive aspects of the human spirit.
